Vice x Virtue Wall Art

Vice X Virtue is an online art vendor specializing in the creation, and distribution of one-of-a-kind designs. During my time working with Vice X Virtue I had the pleasure of designing over 15 designs and was tasked with building their website, writing their copy, and designing their social media ads. The designs I made are all large format 24x36, intended to be used for print. My favorite part about working with Vice x Virtue was the freedom to let my imagination go wild. My design parameters were “Make your designs 300 dpi and make sure they are 24x36”. I had never worked with another company where I was given so much creative freedom, I loved it. One of the biggest obstacles was to keep in mind that I wasn’t just making random art. Even though I was given almost total creative freedom I knew if my designs weren’t selling the chance of being a featured artist again would be slim. I did immense research on wall art and came to conclusion. Designers are hired by companies for many reasons, aesthetic, branding etc.. but the main job of a designer is usually communication. Getting a message from person A to person B while also making it look good. When you’re designing art that is going to be presented as a stand-alone creation with no words the most important thing is no longer communication, it’s evoking an emotion. A large majority of people read a flyer or brochure because they need the information. The people who are buying art to have it showcased in their homes or offices are buying it because it makes them Feel something. It speaks to them on a level deeper than what’s visible to the eye. It needs to speak to their soul.

Mockups

During my time working with Vice x Virtue I wasn’t always able to get my hands on the physical products that were being sold, so we had to adapt and create digital mockups . The goal with mockups is to have them look as real as possible so customers can visualize their prints on their own walls. Creating digital mockups became our go-to alternative to posting a flat graphic to represent the poster.
